How to Reinstall OS on Your VPS

Prerequisites

Before requesting an OS reinstall, make sure you have:

  • Your Hostxpeed account login credentials
  • An active VPS service
  • IMPORTANT: Backed up all important data (this process DELETES everything)

⚠️ WARNING: Reinstalling the OS will permanently delete ALL data on your VPS including files, databases, and configurations. This action cannot be undone!

Step-by-Step OS Reinstall Process via Hostxpeed Portal

Step 1: Log in to Your Hostxpeed Account

Go to https://hostxpeed.com/client and log in with your email and password.

Step 2: Navigate to My Services

From the main menu, click on My Services to see all your active VPS plans.

Step 3: Select Your VPS Service

Click on the VPS service you want to reinstall the OS on.

Step 4: Locate OS Reinstall Option

Scroll down a bit on the service detail page. Look for "Request OS Reinstall" button or link.

Step 5: Submit Reinstall Request

A popup window will appear asking for:

  • Select New OS - Choose from available operating systems (Ubuntu, Debian, CentOS, Rocky Linux, AlmaLinux, etc.)
  • Additional Details - Any special requests or notes for our team (optional)

Step 6: Acknowledge Data Deletion

Check the box confirming:

"I understand that all data will be permanently deleted"

Step 7: Submit Request

Click the Submit Reinstall Request button to complete the process.

What Happens After You Submit

Once you submit your reinstall request:

  1. Our team receives your request immediately
  2. The OS reinstall will be performed during working hours
  3. You will receive an email update once the reinstall is complete
  4. Your new server credentials will be sent to your registered email

Processing Time: OS reinstall requests are typically completed within a few hours during business hours. Our team works as quickly as possible.

  • Ubuntu - 20.04 LTS, 22.04 LTS, 24.04 LTS

Before You Reinstall - Backup Checklist

Make sure you have backed up:

  • Website files (/var/www/, /home/, etc.)
  • Databases (MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB)
  • Configuration files (/etc/nginx/, /etc/apache2/, etc.)
  • Email data and configurations
  • SSL certificates
  • Any custom scripts or applications
